With Scarborough Communities for Healthy Communities
On Feb 13, Kayon Lewis, Scarborough’s newest Kiwanian, and Frederica joined SCHC at Willow Park School for a BHM event. About 50 families participated. Our president held the audience’s attention by telling the story of Rose Fortune. A story of a woman born to two runaway slaves a privileged member of Annapolis Royal, a successful entrepreneur of three businesses and some credit her for establishing the first police force in Canada. On Feb 23, The HUB Mid-Scarborough celebrated Black History Month. President Frederica along with a couple of our Kiwanis Club of Scarborough members participated in a very entertaining evening celebrating BHM at The Hub Mid-Scarborough on Friday, Feb 23. There were amazing singers, dancers and drummers among the many performances that wrapped up with a very motivating talk by the guest speaker Anna Owusu.
Our Introduction to Service Leadership Programs (SLPs)
On January 27, our L.G. Francesco Coccimiglio joined us for our introduction to SLPs. Kathi Silke, SLP Trainer, provided us with the structure, cost and function of the different levels of SLP clubs and the resources available for these clubs. It is essential to know how and when to start a club, and it is imperative to remain consistent and committed to the process of developing Leaders. Much thanks to Kathi for sharing this valuable information.

Our First Community Service Project
A warmer than usual December provided an opportunity for a partnership with Kiwanis Club of Scarborough. Our president, Frederica Joseph, and 12 residents of Rodda Blvd decided to clean up the debris filled neighbourhood and have a Winter Community Cleanup. Read more…
Our First Holiday Member Pot Luck!
Our Club held our first annual member Potluck Dinner at the Clark Centre for the Arts on the grounds of the Guild Inn. Members from Kiwanis Club of East York, Riverdale and Casa Loma joined this first annual celebration. The array of food was both delicious and amazing! Read more …
